Hydrological Changes

In the midst of my genealogical research I’ve also been exploring maps from different eras and have come across a few interesting observations.

In these images you can see the significant changes in two bodies of water in Spaniard’s Bay over the past 80 years.

The Red Arrow indicates Mint Cove Pond.  The most recent image shows a significant filling in of the north-east corner of the pond for residential space.

The Blue Arrow indicates a body of water in the 1948 Back Cove area which no longer exists at all in 2026.  The location in present day seems to overlap the parking lot of the new Holy Redeemer School.
